I wrote this short story when I was 10 years old to enter a competition run by the author H.E. Todd.  I was delighted when I won and my story was used in his book “Bobby Brewster’s Torch” published by Brock Books.  The author gave me a copy and inside he wrote “To Jane Richards [my maiden name] with best wishes and thanks from H.E. Todd.”  I hope you enjoy this short children's story.
